Students Evacuated After Multiple Suffer Breathing Problems and Eye Irritation
The alarm was raised shortly after midday on June 5, when the emergency dispatch center received a call reporting that numerous students at the school were experiencing symptoms such as coughing, eye irritation, and difficulty breathing. Given the scale of the situation, firefighters and medical personnel were dispatched in large numbers.
Upon arrival, emergency services immediately evacuated the school building. Firefighters treated injured individuals and provided support to other students and staff on site. A specialized team wearing breathing apparatus conducted thorough air quality tests. According to the fire department, no hazardous substances were detected during these inspections, and the building was later declared safe for reentry.
Seventeen Injured, Including Eight Seriously – Police Suspect Intentional Act
Authorities confirmed that 17 people sustained injuries—eight classified as serious and nine as minor. All were transported to local hospitals for further treatment. An additional 26 individuals, though physically uninjured, received psychological or emotional support at the scene. Parents of the affected students were notified immediately.
Munich police have opened a formal investigation. Based on initial findings, a technical malfunction, accidental gas leak, or chemical accident has been ruled out. Current evidence points to the deliberate use of pepper spray or a similar irritant, and police are working to determine who was responsible and what the motive may have been.
School Temporarily Closed as Security Measures Are Strengthened
Following the incident, the school remained closed to allow full ventilation of the premises and further assessment of the situation. Security protocols were tightened, and school administrators are closely cooperating with law enforcement and emergency services to manage the aftermath and ensure student safety.
