Police Find Burglar Asleep in Munich Supermarket

A 38-year-old man broke into a supermarket in Munich during the early hours of Saturday.

The man, who has no fixed address, smashed the glass sliding door of a supermarket in the Pasing district using a paving stone to gain entry into the building.

Burglar Helped Himself to Alcohol and Sweets

According to police, the man then consumed alcohol and helped himself to sweets inside the store before lying down to sleep.

The supermarket’s alarm system signaled the break-in, prompting police units to be dispatched to the scene. A police dog handler eventually found the suspect asleep on the sales floor. The man was subsequently arrested and charged with burglary.

Following the completion of police procedures, the 38-year-old was transferred to the detention facility of the Munich Police Headquarters. He is scheduled to be brought before an investigative judge during the day to determine the question of pre-trial detention. The case is under further investigation by Department 52 of the Munich Criminal Police.
