This award is considered one of the most important accolades in German luxury hospitality. An independent panel of industry experts annually evaluates service quality, architecture, cuisine, sustainability, and guest care. According to the organizers, the assessment is based on guest expectations, with a primary focus on service excellence from the traveler’s perspective.

Taking 1st place in this year’s ranking is the traditional Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Hamburg, which was honored as the “101 Icon Hotel.”

Mandarin Oriental: Luxury Above the City Rooftops

Located in the heart of the old town, just a few steps from Marienplatz, the Mandarin Oriental, Munich is a hotel that aims to blend modern luxury with classic elegance. Following an extensive renovation, it offers 48 rooms and 25 suites, with prices starting at around €800 per night.

A highlight is the rooftop pool with a 360-degree view over Munich and towards the Alps. Culinary standards are set by Matsuhisa Munich, led by top chef Nobu Matsuhisa, and the Munich Sushi Club on the rooftop terrace. A wellness area with a sauna, steam room, and fitness studio completes the offering. Since 2020, the hotel has also been the first German luxury hotel to completely eliminate single-use plastics.

Rosewood Munich: Elegance with Bavarian Character

Just a few minutes’ walk away, the Rosewood Munich welcomes its guests in two meticulously restored buildings: the former headquarters of the Bayerische Staatsbank and the baroque Palais Neuhaus-Preysing. This is the first German hotel for the international Rosewood group.

It offers 132 rooms, 59 suites, and four particularly spacious “Houses” that combine Bavarian charm with modern design. Superstar Adele stayed in one of these luxury apartments last year during her major Munich concert series. Culinary highlights are provided by the Brasserie Cuvilliés, the winter garden with its patisserie, the Palaishof courtyard, and the Bar Montez with daily live music. The hotel’s Asaya Spa features an indoor pool, saunas, and a fitness area.
