On Israel Day, MVG Will Reroute Bus Paths and Cancel Part of Stops

The holding of major public-cultural events in the historical center of Munich traditionally requires timely adaptation of transport flows from city services. Due to planned celebrations on Odeonsplatz, the usual movement pattern of several bus lines will temporarily change, with some stops being closed to ensure the safety of residents and guests of the city.

Altstadt-Lehel — On Thursday, June 18, solemn events dedicated to Israel Day will take place on Odeonsplatz, which will exert a direct influence on the operation of surface public transport. In connection with this, the MVG company will adjust the routes of several bus lines in the second half of the day. According to official information from the transport service, these restrictions will be active tentatively from 15:15 to 22:15, which will affect the hours of peak evening load on the city’s transport arteries.

Changes in Bus Movement

Bus No. 100 will follow a backup route on the section between the stops “Brienner Straße” and “Königinstraße”. The stop “Odeonsplatz” will not be served during this period. Instead of the stop “Von-der-Tann-Straße”, MVG will organize temporary stops on Von-der-Tann-Straße itself (in the direction of Ostbahnhof), as well as on the Oskar-von-Miller-Ring loop (in the direction of the northern exit of Munich Hauptbahnhof).

Bus No. 153 will run along a shortened route, departing and terminating movement at the stop “Universität”. The stops “Von-der-Tann-Straße” and “Odeonsplatz” will be completely excluded from the schedule. For trips between the stations “Universität” and “Odeonsplatz”, passengers will be able to use the subway lines U3 and U6, which will operate without changes.

Alternative Travel Options by Subway

MVG informs about the changes with the help of announcements at stations, text lines on information boards, and voice alerts. Passengers are advised to calculate travel time taking into account the adjustments and to follow current notifications from the transport service through official digital channels.

Conclusions and Significance for City Infrastructure

Regular adjustment of surface routes allows Munich to successfully combine active public life with maintaining the stable operation of city transport. The interchangeability of bus service and subway lines ensures the uninterrupted movement of passengers even during the temporary closure of key squares in the center of the city.
