A group of young people at the age from 19 to 24 years committed an illegal intrusion onto the territory of a closed municipal sports complex. Around 04:00, the participants of the company intentionally climbed over the external protective fence of a summer open pool with the goal of night bathing.
The unauthorized visit to the guarded object led to grave consequences for one of the violators and required the emergency intervention of emergency services and law enforcement agencies.
According to preliminary data of the investigation, during a jump into the bowl of the pool, the 20-year-old youth received severe injuries incompatible with life. An ambulance medical doctor who arrived upon the call conducted urgent resuscitation measures at the site of the incident, after which the victim was urgently transported to the nearest specialized clinic.
Despite the efforts of the medical personnel, a few hours later the young man passed away in the intensive care ward. At the present time, representatives of the criminal police are considering the incident as a tragic accident, however, within the framework of a standard protocol, a forensic medical examination has been appointed.
Experts are establishing whether the deceased was in a state of alcohol or other toxic intoxication at the moment of committing the jump.
Receipt of Severe Injuries
Besides the legal qualification of the fact of illegal intrusion onto the territory of others’ possessions, the operational-investigative group concentrated attention on clarifying the exact chronology and reasons for receiving the injuries. Investigators are studying the parameters of the filling of the pool and the structural features of the jumping zone.
Because of the conducting of investigative actions and the work of criminologists, the open swimming pool remained completely closed for visitors on Sunday. The municipal object resumed work in routine mode only on Monday after the conclusion of the main checks. The head of the local commune spoke with an official statement, noting that this tragic incident caused a deep shock among the residents and the administration of the district.
Clarification of the Causes of What Happened
The head of the Bavarian Association of Swimming Masters spoke with a special appeal to citizens, emphasizing that being on the territory of closed summer pools in the night time is fraught with colossal risks to life. In the night hours, qualified personnel on duty and rescuers capable of promptly reacting to an emergency situation and rendering professional first aid are completely absent at the objects.
As additional negative factors significantly increasing the general danger, experts name physical fatigue, the consumption of alcoholic beverages, as well as the psychological influence of a company pushing toward unjustified risk.
Warning About the Danger of Night Bathing
Representatives of the profile association of rescuers separately reminded that the regulation of closing water complexes for the night serves the goals of ensuring safety and protecting the health of people.
Night intrusions can be perceived by youth as a harmless entertainment, however, at a critical moment, the absence of professional control and poor visibility make the rescue of a person practically impossible. The structures directed toward the investigation of the incident call for strict compliance with the rules of visiting public and sports objects of Lower Bavaria.
