The municipal waste management department of the district administration is supporting “Rama dama” (clean-up) actions throughout the district.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen District – When millions of people worldwide come together on a day of action to clean up paths, streets, beaches, forests, rivers, banks, and lakes of carelessly discarded waste, it’s World Cleanup Day.
Together Against Litter
This global citizen movement to eliminate trash and environmental pollution has held a fixed place on the United Nations calendar since 2024 – always on September 20th each year. Therefore, the municipal waste management department of the district administration is again calling on all citizens, clubs, environmental initiatives, schools, kindergartens, authorities, and companies in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district to also become active. The opportunity to do so is available particularly during the two action weeks from September 19th to October 5th.
“Rama dama” Action Launches
Under the motto “The world is cleaning up and the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district is joining in,” this means concretely starting your own “Rama dama” litter collection action or joining an existing cleanup group. For the action, volunteers will be provided with gloves, trash bags, and litter pickers for residual waste upon request. Furthermore, the district will ensure the proper disposal of the collected residual waste so it can be disposed of without any problems.
Collected batteries and accumulators, electronic devices, bottles, or other recyclables must be kept separate and can be properly handed in at local recycling centers. Environmentalists can register their cleanup action nationwide and find further information at https://worldcleanupday.de/. However, please note: register first, then clean up!
Groups and clubs that want to participate in the action and need support are asked, for organizational reasons, to contact the district administration at least two weeks before their planned cleanup by phone at 08821 751-363 or by email at abfallberater@LRA-GAP.de.
