Wiesing/Langkampfen – According to the Tyrol State Police Directorate, the man is suspected of having taken the woman against her will into his car after a meeting at her home on September 12th, driving onto the A12 motorway towards Germany, and later damaging her mobile phone.
Reportedly, the man was initially supposed to drop his ex-girlfriend back at home after a clarifying conversation, as agreed, at a petrol station in Wiesing. However, instead of ending the journey, he continued onto the motorway against her will. It was only after the woman repeatedly threatened the 41-year-old with reporting him to the police that he exited the A12 near Langkampfen. The argument then shifted to a residential building where the situation escalated further: a 53-year-old local resident noticed the incident and, according to police, intervened to help, prompting the suspect to flee the scene in his car.
The ex-girlfriend had managed to alert her daughter and her daughter’s partner via her mobile phone during the drive. They immediately informed the authorities, which led to a large-scale manhunt—not least because the exact whereabouts of the two were initially unclear. The operation involved several police patrols as well as a police helicopter.
The suspect was finally stopped by German federal police near the Kiefersfelden border crossing. According to police, he was under the influence of alcohol at the time. The woman remained physically unharmed during the incident. Charges against the 41-year-old are being prepared for the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office and administrative authorities, police stated. (red)
