MUNICH – Deutsche Bahn implemented schedule changes in Bavaria on December 14th to make rail service more efficient. The new timetable provides more trips on high-demand routes and faster travel times. Notably, ICE trains between Munich and Berlin now run hourly, significantly reducing travel time. Direct routes from Munich to Klagenfurt and Graz have also been expanded. Regional services were adapted to handle the growing number of passengers, especially on busy tourist routes.
Shorter Travel Times and More Direct Routes
According to data from the Bavarian Railway Company (BEG), the number of passengers has significantly increased due to the Deutschland-Ticket. This led to expanded capacity on the Munich-Salzburg line. In Nuremberg, changes were made to the S1, S2, and S3 S-Bahn lines, and in Eastern Bavaria, several routes now operate on an hourly schedule at least until 11:00 PM.
For passengers, this means shorter travel times and more direct connections, making daily commutes and travel easier. The new routes under the 2026 schedule are available in the online timetable on DB Site and in the DB Navigator app.
