To celebrate the occasion, the Munich Transport Company (MVG) team has invited residents to enjoy free coffee, pretzels, and gingerbread. The festive event will be held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the intersection of Fürstenriederstrasse and Agnes-Bernauer-Strasse. Until the end of Friday, service for route 19 and night line N19 between Pasing and Lautensackstrasse will continue to be provided by replacement buses.
Modernized Fürstenriederstrasse Stop
The Fürstenriederstrasse stop has undergone extensive modernization to ensure a barrier-free environment. The work included the installation of a tactile navigation system for visually impaired passengers and raised platforms to provide nearly level access to the vehicles.
Each platform is now equipped with waiting shelters featuring seating and integrated acoustic systems, masts with clear digital passenger information displays, and pillars with a read-aloud function for announcements. This feature is especially helpful for passengers with visual or mobility limitations. If needed, a folding ramp can be requested from the staff at the first door.
Real-time information systems provide departure times and details on potential service disruptions, while the announcement pillars improve acoustic accessibility. To enhance the local climate and passenger comfort, four new trees have been planted on each platform. The equipment and accessible design set the standard for all stops along the future Tram-Westtangente (Western Tram Tangent), which is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028.
Improvements for Motorists
For motor vehicle traffic, the western part of Agnes-Bernauer-Strasse between Lutzstrasse and Fürstenriederstrasse is now open in both directions. With the restoration of turning possibilities onto Fürstenriederstrasse heading south and access from the north, the connection between these two streets has been re-established. Motorists should note that the eastern roadway of Agnes-Bernauer-Strasse between Sandrartstrasse and Fürstenriederstrasse will not open for cars until February, as it is currently being used for pedestrians and cyclists.
