Traffic Congestion Expected in Central Munich Due to Demonstration Against Iranian Authorities at Theresienwiese

A gathering focused on the political situation in Iran will take place at the Theresienwiese on Saturday. Law enforcement authorities anticipate a high turnout of participants.

Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt — On Saturday, February 14, a protest related to the political landscape in Iran will be held at the Theresienwiese. According to the police report, the event is scheduled to last from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A large number of participants are expected to arrive from various regions of Germany and other European countries. There are no available parking spaces for cars or buses in the immediate vicinity of the Theresienwiese.

Large Crowd Predicted for Iranian Solidarity Gathering

Police officers will implement traffic regulation measures and strictly enforce regulations. Vehicles parked illegally will be towed to an impound lot. Furthermore, the boarding and discharging of passengers directly at the Theresienwiese is prohibited. Participants arriving by bus have been recommended to use the free parking available at the Messe München exhibition center.

From the exhibition center, travelers can continue via the U2 subway line to the Innsbrucker Ring station, and then transfer to the U5 line toward Theresienwiese. Alternatively, attendees may take S-Bahn suburban trains from the Riem or Feldkirchen stops directly to Munich Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) or the Hackerbrücke station, followed by a short walk to the venue.

City-Wide Traffic Restrictions Possible Due to Theresienwiese Action

Centralized parking areas for private cars are not provided. The police have recommended utilizing Park-and-Ride facilities. Due to the significant number of expected participants, travelers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys in both directions. Additionally, several other major processions are scheduled to take place throughout the city on February 14.

Consequently, traffic disruptions are projected across the entire central city area. The police have posted additional information on social media and the WhatsApp messenger. Throughout the Munich Security Conference weekend, the department is relying on traditional Munich resilience as well as assistance from colleagues across Germany and four neighboring states.Source: Munich Police Department
