New Citizen Service Center Opens in North Munich

North Munich has a new hub for public services. A new Citizen Service Center has opened in Schwabing. Here's what you need to know.

Munich / Schwabing – The north of Munich has a new Citizen Service Center. Located at Scheidplatz, residents can now go there to apply for new ID cards, police clearance certificates, and more. This new location replaces the old Citizen Service Center on Riesenfeldstraße.

The new five-story building offers employees more workspaces, which the city plans to use for training new staff. For residents, the new center is much easier to reach via public transportation. It also has a barrier-free entrance that leads directly to the reception area.

The Munich Wohnen municipal housing company completed the building in four years. In addition to the Citizen Service Center, the building also houses other municipal facilities and apartments. Mayor Dominik Krause is pleased with the new location: “The new site at Scheidplatz is not only bright and modern but also very well connected to public transport. However, the ideal visit to a public office takes place from home, which is why our administration is working to digitize as many services as possible. Munich is a pioneer in this area in Germany.”

The Scheidplatz location is now one of six Citizen Service Centers for Munich residents. The others are located on Ruppertstraße, Orleansplatz, Leonrodstraße, Forstenrieder Allee, and in Pasing. All locations offer the same services.
