Hellabrunn Zoo to Offer Free Entry for Costumed Children on Fat Tuesday

Munich will become truly vibrant this Fat Tuesday: children in masquerade costumes will have the opportunity to visit the zoo for free. The first 250 guests can also look forward to an additional surprise.

Munich children have a special treat to look forward to this Fat Tuesday. On February 17, 2026, Hellabrunn Zoo will grant free admission to all children under the age of 14 who arrive in festive costumes. From 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, young visitors in imaginative outfits can explore over 500 species of exotic and native animals.

Whether dressed as parrots, knights, dinosaurs, or unicorns—costumed children will be admitted without a ticket at both the Isar and Flamingo entrances. The Hellabrunn administration noted that the carnival atmosphere will bring extra excitement and joy to the zoo.

Chance to Receive Vouchers for Free Doughnuts

For the first 250 costumed children arriving from 1:00 PM onwards, an additional surprise has been prepared at the ticket counters: a voucher for a free doughnut at the Marché main restaurant.

The voucher will be valid exclusively on February 17, 2026, applies only to doughnuts, and is intended solely for children. There is no cash alternative provided for the voucher.
