Nuremberg Kindergarten Employee Fired Amid Child Pornography Suspicions

NUREMBERG. Police are investigating a former employee of a Nuremberg kindergarten on suspicion of possessing child pornography. Parents have been informed, and specialists are available to answer questions and provide support.

Authorities in Nuremberg have dismissed an employee of a municipal childcare facility. He is currently under investigation for the possession of child pornographic images, the mayor’s press office announced in a press release. Immediately after receiving information about the suspicion in the summer of 2025, the city administration initiated labor law measures. The employee has not worked at the facility since then; supervisory authorities were also informed.

During the investigation, it was discovered that children from the kindergarten where he worked may have been affected. The police directly contacted the relevant parents. Furthermore, the Youth Welfare Office informed all parents of the facility about the suspicion that individual children were likely photographed. Specialists are available to answer questions and provide support. Further legal measures are currently being examined.

To protect the identities of the children, parents, and employees, and due to the ongoing investigation, the Youth Welfare Office cannot provide further information about the individuals involved or the exact circumstances of the case.

The city administration emphasized that child protection has the highest priority. Mandatory child protection concepts are in place at all municipal kindergartens with regulations for the recruitment and employment of staff, and any suspicion of a threat to a child’s welfare is taken seriously. “This incident is not only causing concern among the affected families but also among the wider public of parents, as well as specialists and those responsible in municipal kindergartens,” the mayor’s office stated. It is all the more important that information is provided transparently and that those responsible actively support the work of the investigators.
