At a formal ceremony in London, Munich Airport received several prestigious World Airport Awards, securing its status as a leader in Central Europe. Experts and travelers paid special attention to staff performance and overall service quality, allowing the air hub not only to maintain high positions but also to gain recognition on a global level.
According to an official statement from Flughafen München GmbH, the airport was recognized as the best in Central Europe. However, the list of victories did not end there: the air harbor team received the honorary title for the best staff across all of Europe. The high quality standard also extended to the accompanying infrastructure — the Hilton Munich Airport was once again noted as the best airport hotel on the European continent. In the final world ranking, Munich confidently holds the ninth spot, demonstrating stability amidst fierce competition with other major international hubs, some of which also represent the European region.
Munich Airport: recognition from passengers
The World Airport Awards are considered among the most objective in the industry, as they have been awarded since 1999 exclusively based on the results of a worldwide passenger survey. The research is conducted by the independent aviation research institute Skytrax, covering the opinions of millions of people. In the current voting cycle, travelers from more than 100 countries participated, and the data collection itself took place between August 2025 and February 2026. Such a wide scope allows for the most accurate picture of how convenient and pleasant people find it to be in the terminals.Munich Airport CEO Jost Lammers, commenting on the success, noted that he is sincerely proud of this award. He expressed gratitude to passengers for their trust and long-standing loyalty to the Munich hub. Lammers addressed a separate thank you to the employees of all services: the award for the best staff is being granted to Munich for the third time since 2023, emphasizing the systemic professionalism and dedication of the team in creating a welcoming atmosphere for every guest of Bavaria.
