By the time police arrived, emergency responders and firefighters were already on-site. Officers set up barricades to secure the area. Initial reports indicate that several people were attending a private gathering in the garden when gas—for reasons still unknown—leaked from the basement of a garden shed where a generator was running.

Three of them (the 43-year-old, the 49-year-old, and one of the 54-year-olds) were hospitalized on August 10, while the second 54-year-old was treated as an outpatient and later released.
