These new routes will be operated by Lufthansa’s subsidiary Lufthansa City, using modern Airbus A320 Neo aircraft.
Currently, Munich Airport offers flights to 212 destinations. The upcoming additions will further enhance connectivity, especially across Southern and Eastern Europe.
New Direct Flights to Spanish Cities
From July 2025, Lufthansa City will operate daily direct flights from Munich to Seville, Spain’s fourth-largest city. Additionally, starting in October 2025, travelers will be able to fly six times per week nonstop from Munich to Alicante, a popular port city on Spain’s Costa Blanca.
Improved Connections to Italy
Italy will also see increased service from Munich. Beginning August 2025, a daily flight to Naples—the southern Italian metropolis—will be introduced. By September, flight frequency to Naples is expected to rise to as many as 20 per week. Meanwhile, from September 2025 onward, Catania, the second-largest city in Sicily, will also be served daily by direct flights from Munich.
New Direct Flights to Eastern European Capitals
Travelers will benefit from new connections to Eastern Europe as well. Starting August 2025, Munich will offer daily flights to Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. From October 2025, the Romanian capital Bucharest will be accessible twice daily without layovers.
The expansion of direct flights from Munich strengthens the city’s role as a major European aviation hub. For those preferring to stay closer to home or avoid flying, the Munich area offers numerous local lakes and bathing spots ideal for relaxing summer holidays.
