Multiple E-Scooter Accidents in Munich Leave Injuries and Damage as Police Search for Hit-and-Run Suspects

Munich police dealt with several incidents involving e-scooters over the past weekend, resulting in injuries, property damage, and hit-and-run cases. Investigators are now seeking witnesses to help solve these cases.

On Sunday around 1:50 p.m., an accident occurred on Heinrich-Wieland-Straße heading towards Neuperlach. A 28-year-old cyclist was riding with her partner when, according to her account, she was sideswiped by an e-scooter. The impact on her handlebars caused her to lose balance and fall.

According to the woman, the perpetrators were two teenage girls riding a Voi rental scooter. They reportedly overtook her too closely, causing the collision. Her partner, who was cycling ahead, immediately came to help but did not witness the crash himself.

Witnesses stated that the two girls briefly stopped after the accident but left the scene after a few minutes without providing any personal information. The 28-year-old cyclist sustained facial and hand injuries and required hospital treatment. Her bicycle was slightly damaged. The police have not yet received a detailed description of the two teenagers and are asking the public for any information.

Another serious incident took place early Sunday morning around 4:50 a.m. in Neuhausen. A 56-year-old driver was heading outbound on Dachauer Straße in his Volkswagen when two individuals on an e-scooter ran a red light at the intersection with Heideckstraße and collided with the left side of his vehicle.

After the collision, both the scooter rider and the passenger fled the scene. The driver tried to pursue them but was attacked and knocked to the ground by the passenger, suffering injuries in the process.

Police described the suspects as two men of Southern European appearance, approximately 1.80 meters tall. One of them had a black mustache and a goatee. Authorities are requesting any information at the phone number 089/62163322.

In another incident in Harlaching, a single-vehicle e-scooter accident occurred. On Sunday, a rider lost control of his scooter for unknown reasons while negotiating a right-hand curve on Harlachinger Berg and crashed. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and abrasions. External involvement has been ruled out in this case.

The weekend ended with a success for the police in Gräfelfing. During a routine check, officers discovered a stolen e-scooter. Further investigation confirmed suspicions of theft. An 18-year-old suspect is now under investigation.
