High-Speed Crash Destroys Fuel Pump and Storefront
According to police, the car careened off the road at high speed, plowing through a fuel pump before smashing through the glass storefront and coming to rest inside the gas station’s retail area. Fortunately, no staff were present at the time of the crash. Although early reports suggested injuries, both the driver and his 16-year-old passenger were later confirmed to be unharmed.
Marijuana Discovered in Vehicle
During the investigation, officers found a backpack in the car containing approximately 70 grams of marijuana and various tools for drug processing. This discovery prompted a search of the driver’s residence, where additional small quantities of narcotics were seized. Authorities are now investigating whether the driver was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash. A breathalyzer test returned a negative result for alcohol.
Previous Hit-and-Run Incident Uncovered
Further police inquiries revealed that the driver and his underage passenger had been involved in a separate criminal offense just before the crash. Surveillance and witness accounts indicate they struck a parked car in a supermarket lot and fled the scene. At that time, the 16-year-old was reportedly behind the wheel.
Both individuals now face multiple criminal charges, including suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, reckless endangerment, driving without a license, hit-and-run, and unlawful possession—and possibly distribution—of narcotics.
Damage Estimated at €250,000
Authorities estimate the total damage to the gas station at around €250,000. Thanks to an automated safety feature, no fuel leakage occurred from the dislodged pump, but the building itself suffered extensive structural damage.
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine the full extent of the criminal activity and assess whether further charges will be filed.
