Bladenight Returns to Munich with Nightly Skate Tours and Temporary Road Closures

В Мюнхене начинается сезон массовых вечерних заездов Bladenight, рассчитанный на любителей инлайн-скейтинга и роликовых коньков.

Participants can look forward to tours along four main city routes—North, South, East, and West—as well as a special family-friendly route.

Each route has a designated meeting point and departure location, typically either at Ganghoferstraße or Theresienhöhe. All rides are scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m.

Traffic Disruptions and Weather-Related Cancellations Possible Throughout Season

Due to the street closures required for Bladenight events, traffic disruptions are expected in the affected areas. Organizers from “SkateMunich!” and the Munich police have announced that multiple bus lines operated by Munich’s public transport provider MVG will experience delays, rerouted service, or temporary suspension of certain stops between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on event evenings.

First Ride Set for May 12 After Initial Event Was Rained Out

After poor weather forced the cancellation of the original May 5 kickoff, the first Bladenight of the season will now take place on Monday, May 12. With favorable weather conditions forecast—dry skies and temperatures around 14°C—the organizers have given the green light for the event. “Perfect weather, dry roads—everything is set,” confirmed a statement from the organizing group Skate Munich.

The opening ride will follow the North Route, beginning at Bavariapark. The full route includes: Theresienhöhe, Bayerstraße, Hackerbrücke, Wredestraße, Marsstraße, Seidlstraße, Dachauerstraße, Leonrodplatz, Schwere-Reiter-Straße, Elisabethstraße, Franz-Joseph-Straße, Leopoldstraße, Ludwigstraße, Theresienstraße, Sandstraße, and Pappenheimstraße. The start signal will be given at 9:00 p.m.

From 9:00 to approximately 10:30 p.m., rolling traffic restrictions will be enforced along the route. Police estimate that closures will affect each section of the route for roughly 15 minutes. The event organizers have asked drivers and residents for their patience and cooperation during these brief disruptions.

Weather Remains a Key Factor for Future Events

The initial Bladenight on May 5 had to be cancelled at short notice due to unsafe conditions caused by rain. “Looks like the Ice Saints arrived early this year—the wet roads made it impossible to proceed safely, so we had no choice but to cancel,” the organizers reported.

Now with the season officially underway on May 12, skating fans can look forward to more nights of urban adventure, provided the weather continues to cooperate.
