Accident on Munich–Rosenheim Line Leaves Teen in Critical Condition
The incident happened overnight between May 9 and 10 near the Ostfriedhof along the Munich–Rosenheim railway line. According to the Munich Fire Department, two 16-year-olds climbed onto a parked freight train around midnight. As the train began to move without warning, both teenagers lost their footing and fell. One of them was struck by the train and critically injured.
Emergency Services Respond Swiftly to Save Victim
Emergency crews, including fire services, paramedics, and federal police, arrived shortly after 2 a.m. The injured boy was rescued from the track embankment using a special rescue stretcher known as a scoop stretcher. He was immediately transported to the trauma unit of a Munich hospital.
The second teenager was unharmed physically but received on-site psychological support. A crisis intervention team was deployed to assist the visibly distressed youth.
Train Service Temporarily Halted as Investigation Begins
Train operations on the affected stretch were suspended for about an hour to allow rescue operations to proceed safely. Federal police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident and clarify how the teenagers came to be on the train.
Authorities have yet to determine why the pair boarded the freight train and how the fatal fall occurred. Investigators are working to reconstruct the chain of events leading to the tragic accident.
