The project provides for the creation of apartments with special care and an inpatient department. The city authorities emphasize the importance of dialogue with the population, so local residents are invited to actively participate in the discussion of the future development.
In the Ramersdorf-Perlach district, the appearance of such a center is intended to qualitatively change the local infrastructure. According to the official announcement of the Munich municipal authorities, an open public hearing will take place on Wednesday, June 17, from 19:00 to 21:00. The event will be held in the auditorium of the Werner von Siemens City Gymnasium at the address: Quiddestraße 4, Neuperlach. Admission to the meeting is completely free, and preliminary registration of participants is not required.
What Will Be Built on Stephensonplatz: Residential Apartments, a Care Department, and Accompanying Infrastructure
The land plot with an area of about 2.3 hectares is located between the Perlach suburban train station (S-Bahn) and Schneckestraße, running northward along the tracks. On the territory of the former parking lot, the construction of about 300 residential apartments with specialized care is planned, as well as an inpatient medical department for approximately 60 beds. Medical and therapeutic services will be available to all citizens. This also applies to the restaurant, which will face Stephensonplatz. The square itself will be reconstructed, turning into a well-appointed public space. The complex will be surrounded by a park open for walks by local residents.
The Winning Project Provides for a Building of Four Blocks
The architectural concept, recognized as the best based on the results of the competitive selection of the year two thousand and twenty-four, provides for the construction of an elongated building divided into four blocks offset relative to each other. According to the statement of the Munich authorities, the implementation of this project will help meet the growing demand for specialized institutions and services for elderly people in need of constant support. Questions and suggestions received during the public hearings and at the stage of early citizen involvement will undergo verification and will be taken into account during the further development of the construction plan.
You Can Familiarize Yourself with the Project Documentation and Send Feedback Until the Beginning of July
The official schemes and accompanying materials are available until Wednesday, July 8, on the digital platform “Bauleitplanung Online München”. In addition, printed documents are presented in detail in the Department of Forward Planning and Building Supervision at the address: Blumenstraße 28b, in the Eastern District Inspection, as well as in the Neuperlach City Library. The final legal decision regarding the received appeals will be made by the city council upon approval of the development project.
Conclusions and Significance for the Development of the District
This project marks an important transition to socially integrated models of modern urban planning in Munich. The combination of private living space, medical capacities, and open public infrastructure allows for effectively solving the problem of a shortage of places in specialized institutions and preventing the social isolation of elderly citizens. The success of this initiative largely depends on the willingness of local residents to get involved in the discussion process, which makes the upcoming public hearing a critically important stage in shaping the appearance of the renewed district.
