Munich Police to Launch Targeted Inspections on Country Roads

Ensuring safety on the region's key transport routes remains a priority task for Bavarian law enforcement agencies ahead of the start of the summer season.

Representatives of the Munich law enforcement authorities announced the tightening of control on country highways as part of special measures that will affect the territory of the city and its surroundings. The preventative measures are designed to correct the behavior of motorists on complex sections of roads, where a high accident rate is traditionally recorded.

The Munich police plan to organize intensive patrolling of country motorways in June. According to a report by the Munich Police Headquarters, the department will participate in an all-Bavarian targeted campaign to ensure road safety, which will take place from June 1 to June 30, 2026, within the framework of the 2030 strategic program. The main task of the planned events is a systemic reduction in the number of casualties in traffic accidents on country routes.

Police to Monitor Speed, Overtaking Rules, and Violations by Cyclists on Country Roads Around Munich

In the course of comprehensive inspections on the territory of the city and the adjacent district of Munich, police officers intend to pay special attention to facts of exceeding the established speed limit, dangerous maneuvers during overtaking, driver inattentiveness at the wheel, as well as violations by cyclists that could entail accident situations. Patrol crews will place a special emphasis on identifying distraction factors, such as the use of mobile phones while driving.

In addition to this, several official preventative campaigns are scheduled, including a large information event for citizens, which will take place on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Marienplatz.

In conclusion, it should be noted that the coordinated campaign of the Munich Police Headquarters reflects a systematic approach by the authorities to implementing the long-term safety strategy. Conducting such targeted events throughout the entire month of June allows not only for the identification of direct violations of traffic rules but also for raising the general level of legal awareness among drivers and cyclists. The combination of strict patrolling of suburban highways with open educational campaigns at Marienplatz is designed to ensure an effective reduction of road injuries in the long term.
