The train was traveling towards Ostbahnhof at approximately 110 kilometers per hour, according to the Federal Police.
No passengers or train crew were injured in the attack. The train driver reported to officers that he had seen two individuals on a pedestrian crossing. An immediate police search for the perpetrators was unsuccessful.
The train continued its journey to Graz with a delay of around one hour. Investigators estimate the damage caused is in the mid four-figure range. The Federal Police have opened an investigation for dangerous interference with rail traffic.
