Here is when the changes take effect and which destinations are specifically affected.
The airline Eurowings refers to this as a “continuous review” and an “adjustment to optimize flight schedules.” However, for travelers from Nuremberg and the Albrecht Dürer Airport, it’s disappointing news.
As the airline informed this editorial team upon request, it will discontinue the routes to Rome, Heraklion, Kos, and Rhodes starting in the summer of 2026.
Nevertheless, the airline emphasizes that Eurowings remains strongly committed to the Nuremberg location. For instance, the Nuremberg-Mallorca route will continue to be served, meaning over 60 percent of the previous seat capacity will still be offered in summer 2026.
The airline shared the background for the route cuts: “Eurowings fundamentally subjects all connections and locations across the entire route network to continuous review and regularly implements adjustments to optimize flight schedules.” However, it also stated that after discontinuing a route, Eurowings regularly reassesses the conditions for potentially reinstating individual routes.
