Munich Brewery Giesinger Bräu Celebrates Twentieth Anniversary and Plans to Establish a World Record

The enterprise Giesinger Bräu today is among the largest private brewing productions in Munich. The company will celebrate its twentieth anniversary at the end of July with a large-scale three-day festival.

The capital region of Bavaria is preparing for a major cultural and gastronomic event that will attract thousands of connoisseurs of traditional brewing. From July 24 to 26, the WERK2 site in the Milbertshofen district will turn into a festive zone where musical concerts, the “Long Night of Breweries,” a family day, as well as an unusual attempt to establish an official world record will take place.

The history that began in 2006 with a self-made brewing installation in a two-car garage in the Untergiesing district, according to the information of the company’s management, has turned into a significant and permanent phenomenon on the Munich beer market.

Today, at its production sites in the Giesing district and on the territory of WERK2, the company produces about 50 thousand hectoliters of beverage per year and provides permanent work for around 130 employees. According to the company’s own statements, the enterprise by the present time has firmly occupied the position of the second largest private brewery in the city of Munich, successfully competing with major historical brands. (Unfortunately, in official ratings this information is not confirmed — ed)

Attempt at establishing a world record and holding the “Long Night of Breweries”

The founder and managing director of the company, Steffen Marx, expressed sincere gratitude to the public on the eve of the holiday. According to him, the opportunity to celebrate today the 20th anniversary of the company is the result of long joint labor. The development of the brewery would have turned out impossible without support from the side of a huge number of people — through public financing (crowdfunding), equity participation, as well as thanks to regular visitors of the firm’s establishments.

The program of the anniversary weekend days on Friday, July 24, will be opened by a concert of the Munich alternative metal group Emil Bulls. On the stage before the audience, the musical collectives Freakbrothers and brain-on-a-stick will also perform.

A special part of the festive program will be an official attempt to record a new world record for the simultaneous puncturing of beer cans. The current record in this discipline, as the organizers of the event informed, constitutes 412 participants.

Simultaneously with this, a specialized program “Long Night of Breweries,” oriented toward deep acquaintance with the industry, will begin.

Family day with children’s entertainment programs and traditional festivities

On Saturday, the program “Long Night of Breweries” will continue for all visitors. In this event, independent producers of beer from Germany and Austria will take part, among which are presented the brewery Hoppebräu from the Upper Bavarian locality of Waakirchen, the company Braumanufaktur Hertl, as well as the brewery Bierol from the Austrian region of Tyrol. Musical accompaniment for the guests will be provided by the groups Nachtstark, Kapotaki, and the orchestra Mind Blowing Orchestra.

The Sunday day will be entirely dedicated to family recreation and entertainment in the open air. In the festive program are included performances of musicians in a traditional beer garden, entertainment events for children, competitions in lifting heavy stones, as well as the preparation of traditional fish on sticks and a roasted ox on an open grill.

Exhibition dedicated to the history of development of the brewery Giesinger Bräu

Throughout all the weekend days, a specialized exhibition will also operate, telling in detail about the path of development of the brewery — from the first steps in a garage to the modern stage of a large high-tech production.

(Just like the legend about the Apple company, interesting whether they came up with it themselves or who suggested it? — ed.)

One of the key themes of the exposition will be the public initiative “Wiesion,” within the framework of which the company already over the course of several years has been striving for the right to get its own place at the world-famous Oktoberfest festival.

According to the statements of the organizers, in support of this campaign by the present time already more than 17 thousand signatures of citizens have been collected. (Interesting and how many signatures will be collected against? — ed.)

Between the place of holding the festival and the subway station Frankfurter Ring, a free shuttle bus will course.

The enterprise Giesinger Bräu was founded in 2006 and sets before itself the main goal to produce typical Munich beer varieties and other beer beverages on the basis of classical traditional technologies.

All manufactured beverages are produced exclusively from local Bavarian raw materials, remain fresh, and are not subjected to thermal treatment, informed the producer in its press release. The anniversary events are called to demonstrate how a small local project over two decades is capable of growing into a significant element of urban culture and economy. (And as for me, after a loud loss in court and a scandal that the owner of the brewery staged, this event is merely a weak idea to stay in the information field, so as through the public to get to Oktoberfest and earn a couple of hundred thousand euros in a couple of days. Perhaps when small businessmen begin to speak the truth, and not steal the legend of the Apple and Google companies, when they will not make loud statements without an independent assessment, when they stop covering earnings with social ideas, maybe then it will not be necessary to scandalize and sue everyone in a row — ed.)
