Bundeswehr to Conduct Military Exercises in the Aichach-Friedberg Area

The Bundeswehr is planning a multi-day military exercise in the Aichach-Friedberg district. The exercise zone includes 14 towns and municipalities. Live-fire drills "cannot be ruled out," according to reports.

The troop exercises will begin on Monday, November 24, in the Aichach-Friedberg area. According to the district’s official gazette, the drills will start on Monday at 11:00 AM and conclude on Wednesday, November 26, at 5:00 PM. They will take place across 14 towns and municipalities.

These include: Affing, Aichach, Aindling, Dasing, Friedberg, Hollenbach, Inchenhofen, Kühbach, Obergriesbach, Petersdorf, Pöttmes, Ried, Schiltberg, and Todtenweis. The exercises were registered with the Federal Office for Infrastructure, Environmental Protection, and Bundeswehr Services, as further stated in the official gazette.

Bundeswehr Exercises in Aichach-Friedberg: Reconnaissance Teams to Survey Infrastructure

Details regarding the nature of the exercises were provided: “Four reconnaissance and survey teams will conduct patrols and survey infrastructure (roads, bridges, commercial and industrial zones), as well as the terrain in the operational area. In doing so, they will move tactically, primarily at night or in limited visibility, and will therefore rarely use municipal, district, or state roads.” Engineer and sapper training is also planned, including the reconnaissance and survey of terrain, taking up positions, and marches with vehicles.

Live-fire drills were “not fundamentally planned but cannot be ruled out.” Safety zones for the use of maneuver ammunition will be strictly observed.
