With autumn approaching, the outdoor pools are nearing the end of their season. Before the pools are emptied until next summer, special guests get a chance to enjoy the water. During the Dog Swimming Days, owners can let their pets swim in two Munich pools over four days, according to the city utilities company, Stadtwerke München.
Dates and Locations
On Wednesday, September 17, and Thursday, September 18, the non-swimmer pool at Ungererbad in Schwabing-Freimann will be open. Dogs can swim on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with the last entry at 5:30 p.m. On Thursday, the pool will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with last entry at 4:30 p.m.
The Event Goes Ahead Rain or Shine
On Friday, September 19, and Saturday, September 20, the event moves to the FKK section of Dantebad, where dogs can splash around from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. both days. Last entry is at 5:30 p.m.
Admission is five euros per dog, while owners enter for free. The Dog Swimming Days take place regardless of the weather.
Chlorine-Free Water Ensures Safe Swimming
Owners need not worry about chlorine in the water. Starting Tuesday, September 16, the outdoor pools will be closed to regular swimmers, allowing chlorine levels to drop. Dogs can swim safely and even drink the water. The adjacent lawns are also available for play.
From 12:00 p.m., the Munich Animal Welfare Association will have an information booth on site.
