Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Munich Sold to Investor from Abu Dhabi

The renowned five-star hotel Mandarin Oriental in Munich has changed ownership. An investor from Abu Dhabi has acquired the exclusive property.

The sale raises questions about what this means for the staff, guests, and the overall concept of the hotel.

Luxury Hotel in Munich Passes into New Hands

The Mandarin Oriental is considered one of the most prestigious and expensive hotels in Munich. It has gained a reputation as a top destination for celebrities and high-profile guests. Among its notable residents was footballer Harry Kane, who stayed there during his first months with FC Bayern. The hotel also houses the acclaimed Ory Bar, which has received industry accolades. In the previous year, the Ory Bar was honored with the “Mixology Bar Award” in the category of “Hotel Bar of the Year.”

Property Sold to Abu Dhabi-Based Real Estate Firm Eagle Hills

It is now confirmed that the building on Neuturmstraße has been sold. The British-Asian Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, which has managed the hotel for decades, had been actively seeking a buyer for over a year. The group has now sold the property to Eagle Hills, a real estate company headquartered in Abu Dhabi. A spokesperson for the hotel confirmed that a contractual agreement had been reached. According to the industry publication “Green Street News,” the purchase price is approximately €150 million, although this figure has not been officially verified. Hotel spokesman Phillip Mayer stated that the ownership transfer is expected to be finalized within six to eight weeks.

Guests and Staff to See No Immediate Changes

Despite the change in ownership, day-to-day operations will remain unchanged for the foreseeable future. There will be no immediate changes for guests or employees. Hotel spokesman Mayer emphasized that there would be no restructuring of the team and that the level of service the guests have come to expect would remain intact. The hotel will also continue to operate under the Mandarin Oriental brand. For more than 25 years, this brand has represented the highest standard of hospitality and personalized luxury in Munich.

Exclusive Experiences for High-End Clientele Remain Unchanged

The Mandarin Oriental continues to cater to demanding guests with a range of luxury services and experiences. One example is Düsseldorf businessman Niclas Rehmann, who frequently books the most expensive suite in the hotel. For a nightly rate of €17,000, guests enjoy exclusive amenities, including a ride in a Porsche, high-quality Beluga caviar, and individually embroidered pillows and bathrobes. These offerings represent an unparalleled level of luxury, tailored to meet the preferences of the most discerning guests.
