Former Babysitter Sentenced to Eleven Years for Child Sex Abuse

Munich, Germany – A 37-year-old man has been sentenced to eleven years and two months in prison by the Munich Regional Court for the sexual abuse of a boy entrusted to his care.

The abuse occurred over several years, with the defendant convicted on over 350 counts. He reportedly worked as a babysitter for the victim’s family.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered the man to be held in preventative detention. A court spokesperson confirmed these details to DER SPIEGEL, following initial reports from the “Bild” newspaper.

The conviction encompasses more than 350 individual offenses, including 300 counts of sexual abuse of persons under guardianship, 13 counts of child sexual abuse, and 49 counts of aggravated child sexual abuse. The aggravated cases were committed concurrently with the abuse of persons under guardianship. A nine-year and nine-month prison sentence was imposed for these specific crimes.

Furthermore, the man was found guilty of possessing child and youth pornography, incurring an additional sentence of one year and five months. The verdict was announced last Friday and is not yet legally binding.

According to consistent media reports, the convicted man offered his services as a babysitter on an online platform, through which he connected with the family whose son he sexually abused for years. The now adult victim reported the perpetrator years later.
