Since Monday morning, the Bundeswehr has been conducting exercises in the area of Nuremberg, Fürth, and toward Neustadt an der Aisch. According to the Government of Middle Franconia, the exercises will affect the Fürth district—the towns of Zirndorf, Oberasbach, and Stein, as well as the municipalities of Weinzierlein, Seukendorf, and Siegelsdorf. The activities will take place both in open terrain and on barracks grounds.
130 Servicemen Participating in the Exercises
According to information from the Nürnberger Land district, the maneuvers involve:
- approximately 130 servicemen;
- around 60 vehicles;
- several helicopters.
The Nürnberger Land district applied to host the exercises on its territory in advance as a precautionary measure. At present, there is no reason to believe that the main part of the maneuvers will unfold there.
Nevertheless, the district allows for the appearance of military equipment, helicopters, or Bundeswehr personnel in connection with the ongoing exercises. Therefore, local authorities have warned the population about the upcoming maneuvers in advance.
Residents Asked to Stay Clear of Military Objects
The population is advised not to approach the units participating in the exercises and their temporary facilities.
If the actions of the Bundeswehr cause damage to property, a claim must be submitted to the local administration within one month. The settlement of such cases is handled by the relevant Bundeswehr service center.
