Norwegian Air Launches Direct Flights from Munich to Tromsø Starting October 2025

Beginning in late October 2025, Norwegian Air Shuttle will introduce a new direct flight route connecting Munich with the northern Norwegian city of Tromsø.

The airline confirmed that the service will operate twice a week, giving travelers from Bavaria and beyond easier access to the Arctic Circle region.

The flights are scheduled for Thursdays and Sundays, with the first departure set for 26 October 2025. Norwegian Air plans to use Boeing 737 aircraft for this route, aiming to provide a convenient and efficient travel option for those looking to explore northern Scandinavia during the colder months.

Tromsø is located approximately 350 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle and has gained international fame for its vivid Northern Lights. Thousands of visitors travel to the region each year to witness this natural spectacle. In addition to the aurora borealis, Tromsø also boasts popular tourist attractions such as the Arctic Cathedral and several museums, making it a sought-after destination for nature lovers and culture enthusiasts alike.

Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich Airport, described the route as a significant enhancement to the airport’s winter flight schedule. He noted that the connection would bring Bavaria and Northern Norway closer together, adding that the new route offered passengers a comfortable way to experience the raw beauty of the Arctic landscape—even in the darker months of the year.

With this addition to its route network, Norwegian Air aims to meet the growing demand for travel to northern destinations and to support tourism in both regions.
