In Munich, an 82-year-old man died after an excavator crushed him inside a car being disposed of. According to police information, the man unnoticed entered the car, prepared for demolition, on the territory of a firm in the Obersendling district. The reasons why he was in the cabin on Wednesday still remain unexplained.
Excavator driver was processing scrap metal
According to current investigation data, at about 3:25 PM, a 60-year-old employee of the scrap metal collection site was operating heavy machinery for processing old vehicles. With the excavator’s gripping mechanism, he pressed in the roof of the car, after which he turned the car onto its roof. As reported by the police, a witness noticed the presence of a person inside the vehicle only at that moment.
Due to the deformation of the roof, the 82-year-old man received injuries incompatible with life. Any help proved to be too late. Fire department employees had to extract the deceased from the destroyed car using special equipment. The Munich traffic police are investigating the circumstances of what happened.
A police representative clarified that this car did not belong to the deceased. Presumably, the man could have been on the territory of the enterprise as a scrap metal collector.
