Nuremberg Carnival 2026: Event Dates and Police Security Measures

In January and February, Nuremberg will once again host numerous Fasching (Carnival) celebrations. Below is the essential information regarding security in the metropolis and the key dates for the program.

The 2025/2026 Carnival season officially began on November 11, 2025. However, the major parties, parades, and balls in the region are only just beginning. We have prepared an overview of the upcoming highlights in Nuremberg.

The main program in Nuremberg kicks off on February 15 with the Nuremberg Carnival Parade, held on Carnival Sunday. The procession begins at 1:00 PM on Bayreuther Straße, where colorful floats from various carnival societies will move through the city center to the White Tower (Weißer Turm) accompanied by loud music.

The following day, February 16, features the children’s parade, traditionally held on Rose Monday (Rosenmontag). The route winds through the city center and is organized by the municipal youth welfare office.

Themed Parties and Balls

In addition to the parades, Nuremberg has several themed parties scheduled. According to the city administration, the Jambo Jambo Carnival Ball will take place at the Parks club on January 31, followed by the Jambo Jambo Women’s Carnival (Weiberfasching) at the same venue nearly two weeks later on February 12.

On the following weekend, February 14, two parties are scheduled: the Big Horn Ranch celebration and a Women’s Carnival at the Gate club. On February 15, at 5:11 PM, the BRETONIA carnival society will hold its ceremonial session at the Eventhalle Gartenstadt. On February 16, Parks will host another Rosenmontagsfasching event, while the program concludes on February 17 with the N1 Ramba Zamba at the Nuremberg Winter Huts.

For both adults and children, Nuremberg offers several traditional ball programs. On Sunday, February 1, the Nürnberger Trichter society will hold its ceremonial session at Eventhalle Gartenstadt. The following week, on February 8, the Franconian session Wider die Neidhammel (“Against the Envious”) begins at 5:11 PM at the Langwasser community center.

On Thursday, February 12, starting at 8:00 PM, Women’s Carnival celebrations continue at the Heilig-Geist-Saal (Hans-Sachs-Platz 2). Additionally, a Kehraus-Party (closing party) will be held on February 17 at the Eibanesenheim on Werderstraße.

Children’s Events

The Nürnberger Luftflotte des Prinzen Karneval e.V. society already held a children’s party on Saturday, January 24, but a second opportunity will be available on February 7 in the St. Johannis district, and another on February 14 at the Gustav Adolf Memorial Church hall. The program includes games, masks, gifts, dancing, and shows. A children’s party will also take place at the Eibanesenheim on the same day.

Additionally, an event was held at the Löwensaal near the zoo on January 25, with a similar event scheduled for February 8 at the Parks club.

Security at Carnival Events: Police Preparation

Whether at Christmas markets during the colder months or at these large public events, visitors are increasingly concerned about safety. The police have prepared their deployments to protect the public.

The Middle Franconia Police Headquarters explained, in response to an inquiry from our editorial team, that primary responsibility for security at these festivals lies with the organizers. Security concepts were coordinated with the police, are constantly reviewed, and can be adjusted at any time if necessary.

According to law enforcement authorities, technical barriers have been planned for certain parades. Furthermore, police officers will escort the processions, partly to manage traffic, thereby ensuring a high level of security.
