According to Christmas Garden Deutschland GmbH, more than 30 light installations have been placed along the three-kilometer circular route. The garden opened on November 18th, with the final day for visits scheduled for January 5th.
The installations include the so-called “Sparkling Forest of Lights” with light cones up to five meters high, as well as a composition called “Wild Swans,” where six luminous birds glide over an artificial, glittering lake. Furthermore, more than 600 illuminated panels have been installed to create a futuristic flower meadow. Visitors can also write down personal wishes on cards and hang them on the branches of the “Wishing Tree.”
Individual lighting accents were purposefully used to highlight botanical elements, such as the Victoria Linden tree, which is illuminated with special effects. The program is complemented by interactive elements: photo spots, a drawing corner, and a fairy-tale quest for children.
The managing director of Mainau, Björn Graf Bernadotte, was quoted saying that the Christmas Garden combines the art of light and garden design with opportunities for socializing, bringing people together in a magical atmosphere. The Christmas Garden will be closed for six days: November 24th and 25th, December 1st and 2nd, as well as December 24th and 31st, 2025.
Tickets are available starting from €20.90. In addition to standard tickets, family days with special family tickets are planned, and for the first time, flexible tickets for children have been developed. The island can be reached by bicycle, train, bus, Lake Constance ferries, or private vehicle. A dedicated parking area on the mainland is available for cars and motorhomes.
